Wig Cuttings and Fittings

In all of our salons we will cut and style your piece. Most of the time, we will not need to alter any of the stock items, in most case it will just be a trim. If you prefer any of the human hair wigs or Custom Made then as standard a full restyle will be carried out to your personal style.

More advanced materials and techniques are constantly being explored by our research and development team at Trendco. Whatever the future may bring, clients may be assured that Trendco aims to continue at the forefront of all that is new and the very best in the hair replacement industry.

Appointments are advisable but please call the branch that you would like to visit. Private rooms are available upon request as these are limited.

How to Measure Heads for Wigs

circumference To get the maximum comfort and security when wearing your wig, we recommend that you firstly measure your head for an accurate size. The average adult head size is 54cm, which majority of our wigs are but we do have a range of petite wigs too. Most of the wigs do come with an adjustable strap inside the cap which you can 1inch smaller or larger.

Make sure you flatten down any hair you have so it is not in the way when measuring and always use a soft measuring tape.

To measure your head, start at the front of your head at the hairline in the centre, place the start of the tape flat against your head. Feeding the tape through your fingers and around your head, going down to the nape then back up around the opposite side of your head returning back to the front. This is the circumference of your head. Always measure in Inches.

The front of the wig should settle into your natural hairline, four fingers above your eyebrows and it should come down to natural hairline at the back (nape).

Fibre Aftercare Instructions

FIBRE WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

If worn daily, we recommend that you wash your piece every 7-10 days.

1.Prior to washing remove all knots and tangles.

Fill a bowl or sink with tepid water and a little T-Range Shampoo. Immerse the wig or hairpiece in the water. Rinse. Repeat if desired.

Using your hands smooth through some T-Range Softening Conditioner. Leave this to soak for a few minutes then rinse thoroughly.

Wrap in a towel to remove excess water.

Very gently brush your hairpiece or wig. Place on a polyhead or wig stand.

At this stage, whilst it is damp, lightly spray on the T-Range Soften ‘N’ Sheen’. Leave to dry naturally overnight.

In the morning or once dry gently shake or brush your hairpiece or wig into your desired style.

For extra hold apply some of our T-Range Holding spray.

FIBRE AFTERCARE ADVICE

NEVER EXPOSE A SYNTHETIC PIECE TO HEAT OR NAKED FLAME.

Never use intense heat on fibre, e.g., DO NOT USE hairdryers, ceramic irons, curling tongs etc. Avoid opening oven doors and standing under overhead heaters. This will burn the fibre. Never wash in hot water.

When brushing fibre wigs/pieces we recommend using a soft brush.

Please note that eventually the fibre will wear out and frizz - the name for this is ‘Friction Frizz’. Our T-Range Soften ‘n’ Sheen helps reduce Friction Frizz and helps ease tangles. Please apply this

sparingly a couple of times in between washes.

Fibre needs to be replaced more frequently than human hair. The expected lifespan for a short fibre wig is 4-6 months, a mid-length (or bob) is between 3-4 months and a long wig is 2-3 months. Hairpieces are expected to last 4-6 months. These time frames are only approximate and are based on everyday wear.

Fibre cannot be tinted or bleached.

Scrunched/permed models must never be brushed: detangle using your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.

For a flexible parting select a wig or hairpiece that has a monofilament top.

Machine wefted wigs/hairpieces have root teasing -this is produced to hide the wefting and foundation underneath – this is called ‘Permatese’.

We do not recommend sleeping in your wig/hairpiece - it will cut the lifespan by at least half.

If you have hair underneath a wig and need more stability, we advise you to use Snap Lok Clips, Kirby Grips or wear a wig cap for extra security. Most wigs/pieces can be secured with Mono Tape if you have complete hair loss.

Flexi-Fibre / Cyberhair / V-Hair Aftercare Instructions

FLEXI-FIBRE WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

If worn daily, we recommend that you wash your piece every 7-10 days.

1.Prior to washing remove all knots and tangles.

Fill a bowl or sink with tepid water and a little Trendco Revitalising Wash. Immerse the wig or hairpiece in the water. Rinse. Repeat if desired.

Using your hands smooth through some Trendco Detangling Cream. Leave this to soak for a few minutes then rinse thoroughly.

Wrap in a towel to remove excess water.

Very gently brush your hairpiece or wig. Place on a polyhead or wig stand.

At this stage, whilst it is damp, lightly spray on the Trendco Moisture Protect.Leave to dry naturally overnight.

In the morning or once dry gently shake or brush your hairpiece or wig into your desired style.

For extra hold apply some of our Trendco Sculpt & Create.

FLEXI-FIBRE AFTERCARE ADVICE

Using your hands smooth through some Pureology Conditioner.Leave this to soak for a few minutes then rinse thoroughly.

Wrap in a towel to remove excess water. This is when you can apply a conditioning mask.

Very gently brush your hairpiece or wig. Place on a polyhead or wig stand.

At this stage, whilst it is damp, lightly spray on the Pureology Colour Fanatic. Leave to dry naturally overnight or use a hairdryer*.

In the morning or once dry style your wig/hairpiece with heat tools* and/or by using Redken Styling Products.

HUMAN HAIR AFTERCARE ADVICE

NEVER EXPOSE A HUMAN HAIR PIECE TO HIGH HEAT* OR NAKED FLAME.

If the piece contains any grey hair; this will be synthetic and you should not apply any heat whatsoever to the piece and avoid opening oven doors and standing under overhead heaters. This will burn the fibre. Please note that eventually the fibre content will wear out and frizz - the name for this is ‘Friction Frizz’. OurTrendco Moisture Protect helps reduce Friction Frizz and helps ease tangles. Please apply this sparingly a couple of times in between washes.

Never wash in hot water.

When brushing Trendco human hair we recommend using a soft brush. Be gentle when brushing your wig/piece when it is wet. Our Pureology Colour Fanatic and Miracle Filler help ease tangles. Please apply this sparingly a couple of times in between washes.

The expected lifespan for a human hair wig or hairpiece is up to 9 months. These time frames are only approximate and are based on everyday wear.

Human Hair will naturally oxidise resulting in colour fade. This happens within the first few months of exposure to the environment and outdoors. However, the colour can be restored. Should you need to darken your hair, please seek professional advice.

All hair naturally tangles at the nape of the neck so it is recommended that long human hair is brushed numerous times a day, from the ends to the roots. For a thorough condition use a good quality conditioning mask at least once a month.

Human hair can be tinted darker but not lighter.

Human Hair wigs and pieces are hand-tied which allows you to change the parting and hair direction

We do not recommend sleeping in your wig/hairpiece - it will cut the lifespan by at least half.

Please note that eventually the fibre content will wear out and frizz - the name for this is ‘Friction Frizz’. Our Trendco Moisture Protect helps reduce Friction Frizz and helps ease tangles. Please apply this sparingly a couple of times in between washes and when using heat tools*.

Never wash in hot water.

*Heated appliances: Future hair is very versatile: it can be blow-dried, straightened, curled, crimped or rolled-up. However, please do not exceed 140°, use tools with a temperature gauge. Do not continuously apply heat to your future hair, this can cause permanent damage.

Do I need to wear a wig cap underneath my wig?

How does a wig stay on?

I have never worn a wig before, how do I put it on?

The two important rules for putting on your wig correctly are to position the wig line at the front, 4 fingers width from your brow bone and to ensure the ear tabs on each side of the wig are evenly positioned to sit in front of your ears so the wig is straight. Hairpieces require a little practice. Our experienced stylists in our salons are more than happy to spend some time with you and advise how to do this.

I am worried that my wig might blow off in the wind?

Will wearing a wig stop my hair from growing back?

Can I swim and excerise in my wig/hairpiece?

Can I sleep in my wig/hairpiece?

I have a long wig, can I wear it up?

What aftercare products and accessories do I need for my wig?

This depends on what type of hair you have. Fibre hair, Flexi-Fibre and Human Hair have different aftercare products. Please go to our aftercare product section on the top menu bar to check what products you will need for your wig/hairpiece.

We recommend a polyhead, workhead or collapsible wig stand to keep your wig on when you are not wearing it and for drying and a wig brush too. If you have a Flexi-Fibre hair wig, Gem/bespoke human hair or V-Hair wig/hairpiece, Aderans straightening irons are perfect for styling.

What is the difference between a machine wefted and monofilament wig/hairpiece?

The term "Machine Wefted" means that the wig/hairpiece has been made by a machine. Because of this, the wig will have Permatease. Permatease is a slight frizz at the root of the fibre hair. This is to hide the machine made cap. Machine wefted wigs/hairpieces are available in the Noriko, Hi Fashion and Stimulate collections.

A monofilament top means that the hair has been hand knotted in to the cap on a skin like material to give the appearance of hair growing from the scalp. Monofilament wigs and hairpieces tend to look more natural but are a little bit more expensive because of the hand knotting. Monofilament wigs/hairpieces available in Amore, Noriko, Sentoo Premium and Stimulate collections.

Do they come in different sizes?

The size of the caps of the wigs depends on which collection you choose from. Majority of Amore, Noriko and Hi Fashion collections are all one size of 54cm, however the style Sky is available in a large cap size of 57.5cm. Stimulate collection haspetite, average and large sizes available throughout the collection and Sentoo Premium come in 53.5cm caps as well as petite (51cm) and large (55cm) caps. All caps do have an adjustable strap inside so they can be adjusted ever so slightly if needed.

My hair has gone frizzy. What does this mean?

if your fibre hair wig/hairpiece has frizzed at the ends, this is called Friction Frizz. Friction Frizz is unfortunately unavoidable and will happen to medium to long wigs/hairpieces indefinately. Friction Frizz occurs when the fibre hair rubs against clothing i.e. collars of shirts etc. This hair can be trimmed to reduce the amount of Friction Frizz, however it is possibly recommended that a new one is purchased.
